RE: SPEAK Test Dates and EAP Course Offerings for Fall 2011
All international graduate students whose first language is not English (official first language of home country) and who may be appointed as teaching assistants (with lecturing/lab responsibilities) need to have a passing score (45 or higher) on either a TSE (Test of Spoken English -- administered by ETS), a UF SPEAK test (administered on the UF campus), or a TOEFL-IBT Speaking test (23+). In addition, any international graduate teaching assistant whose first language is not English who scores a 45 or 50 on a SPEAK/TSE test, or 23 - 27 on a TOEFL-IBT Speaking section and who is appointed to teach (with lecturing/lab responsibilities) must enroll, during their first semester teaching, in a 3-credit EAP 5836 course. International graduate students appointed as TA-G (grading and office hour responsibilities only) are neither required to pass a SPEAK test nor eligible to enroll in EAP 5836. SPEAK test dates, times and locations for the Fall 2011 semester are as follows:

ASEP1 is a non-credit, fee-based, course. This course is NOT eligible for a tuition waiver for students on assistantship.
The course has been modified to better meet the needs of students needing to pass the SPEAK test to teach at UF, or perspective students who will have to take the spoken part of the TOEFL iBT.
* This course will be offered twice during the Fall 2011 Semester
* The Fall A class runs from 29 August - 07 October
* The Fall B class runs from 17 October - 25 November
* The course meets four days per week.
* The meeting time is Monday - Thursday 7th Period (1:55 - 2:45)
* The course meets in Yon Hall, Room 320
* The fee for this course will be $500 for a 6-week course (either Fall A or Fall B).
