Dear Members of the list,
I was wondering if you happen to know more papers about the
applications of the theory of social capital (as operationalized for
example in burts works for networks) on how information is forwarded
in online social networks. The argument of building social capital
online by investing into people by creating ties and mentioning people
and retweeting them and earning social capital by receiving followers,
being mentioned and being retweeted seems not far fetched to me.
I have found three papers on information diffusion on Twitter and
a) Bonding vs. Bridging Social Capital: A Case Study in Twitter by
Matthew Smith and Christophe Giraud-Carrier
b) How does Social Capital affect Retweets by Raquel Recuero, Ricardo
Araujo and Gabriela Zago
c) Implicit Affinity Networks and Social Capital by Matthew Smith,
Giraud-Carrier and N. Purser
Do you happen to know more of such kind?
