Subject: International Network of Analytical Sociologists- Call for Papers
“Analytical Sociology Gets Dirty” Call for papers
We are happy to announce that the first meeting of the International
Network of Analytical Sociologists will take place in New York on June
8th and 9th, 2012.
We believe that sociology is at its best when theoretical explanations
encounter data, and sociologists get dirty digging into messy data to
solve/unveil real world puzzles. We invite submissions from any
substantive area of the social sciences, and encourage papers that
engage tangible empirical problems.
Submissions must be sent to [log in to unmask] and include the
(a) title of the paper
(b) author(s)’s name, affiliation, and email address
(c) long abstract (min 500 – max 1000 words)
(d) short bibliography
(e) each submission must be accompanied by a list of 5 research
articles published in the last 25 years in any social science journal
that the author considers exemplary of the spirit of analytical
The deadline for submission is April 1, 2012, 5PM EST. Abstracts will
be evaluated by anonymous referees and authors will be notified no
later than April 30, 2012. Feel free to circulate this invitation to
colleagues and students as you see fit. We look forward to seeing you
in New York.
Peter Bearman and Delia Baldassarri
