Hello HOSA Members!
If you paid for a shirt this semester and have not yet been able to pick it
up, we will have the t-shirts available for you on Sunday, December 4th
from 2-4 pm at Library West Room 230. The last day to pick up shirts will
be the next meeting, January 16th. We hope that you will be able to pick up
your shirt this weekend!
Below is an announcement for an internship opportunity that our advisor
asked us to pass onto you.
'11-'12 Executive Board
HOSA at UF
*Collegiate Leaders in Environmental Health
* is a 10-week (Wednesday, June 13, 2012 Ė Friday, August 17, 2012) summer
environmental internship for undergraduate students who are passionate
about the environment, interested in human health, and curious about how
they are linked.
Interns will be placed in environmental health programs at the US Centers
for Disease Control and Preventionís (CDC) *National Center for
Environmental Health <http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/> *and *theAgency for Toxic
Substances and Disease Registry <http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/> (NCEH/ATSDR) *
at *CDC's Chamblee Campus <http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/cleh/faq.htm#chamblee>*.
Over the course of the summer, interns will be exposed to a broad overview
of environmental public health issues at the federal level.
Interns will participate in environmental health projects, interact with
federal officials and scientists, and visit important environmental health
sites in and around Atlanta. Other activities include "brown-bag" lunches
with CDC staff, as well as attending lectures from prominent environmental
health leaders in the Atlanta area. In addition, interns will be able to
attend the many seminars offered by CDC during the summer.
A stipend of approximately $600 per week will be provided for living
expenses. Travel to Atlanta will be the internís responsibility. Potential
housing options will be provided on the housing
however interns will be expected to make their own arrangements.
