I am looking for work that has been done on how we go about defining
friendships (e.g. reciprocity, time spent with peers, behavioral
similarity, interactions©). Particularly those during adolescence and, to
put a finer point on it, how a/the "best" friend has been defined.
Fischer's 1982 piece "What do we mean by 'friend'? An Inductive Study" is
currently in hand. Suggestions of similar articles or those that take
Fischer up on his question empirically would be welcome.
