RE: McKnight Fellowship Deadline is January 17, 2012!
The UF Office of Graduate Minority Programs (OGMP) requests your assistance in encouraging eligible PhD applicants to submit an application for the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship. Those applying for admission to PhD programs during the current admissions cycle for enrollment in 2012-2013 must use this McKnight Doctoral Fellowship online process. The application can be completed at www.fefonline.org/mdfapply/. *The regular deadline for applications is January 15.* However, applicants will have until Tuesday, January 17, 2012 to submit this year, because the regular deadline occurs on a Sunday, and Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
The OGMP, in partnership with the Florida Education Fund, administers the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship. The program, established during the 1984-85 academic year, is designed to increase the representation of African American and Hispanic students in PhD programs at Florida universities. Each fellow receives an annual stipend of $12,000 with tuition and fee waivers for a maximum of five years.
Eligibility requirements: The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship is limited to students who are US citizens and admitted into a UF PhD program.
Fellowship Application Process: Applications for the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship must be submitted directly to the Florida Education Fund by January 17, 2012 for consideration for funding the following fall term. Students are notified of their status by late March of each year.
Additional information about the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program is available on the Florida Education Fund website, www.fefonline.org. Feel free to refer prospective students to the FEF.
