RE: February 14: European FLAS Fellowship Application Deadline
The UF Center for European Studies is soliciting applications for FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) Fellowships, funded by the US Department of Education, for Summer 2012 and Academic Year 2012-2013.
Fellowships are awarded to graduate students working in an academic discipline with European area and language studies, for any one of the lesser and least commonly taught European languages: Catalan, Czech, Hungarian, Italian, Modern Greek, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish. Funding may also be available for advanced language training in French, German or Spanish at the graduate level.
Summer fellowships provide tuition at the host institution (actual cost up to $5,000) and provide a stipend ($2,500). Summer travel awards (covering the actual cost of travel up to $1,000) may also be available.
Academic year fellowships provide a set stipend per academic year ($15,000 for graduate students) and cover the cost of in-state tuition and fees (12 credits per semester).
Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident and be admitted to a graduate program at the University of Florida.
The deadline to apply is February 14, 2012.
