I'm new to this mailing list and seek the wisdom of the crowd:
For my PhD thesis I'm working with the diaries of Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826) which are encoded in TEI-XML and are richly annotated with names of persons, places, works etc. Moreover, I have additional information about the (or: most) mentioned people (age, sex, etc.) so my feeling is that this data is very well suited for applying social network analysis.
Beeing new to this field I made myself familiar with some introductory literature to (historical) social network analysis but haven't found anything yet with regard to historical diaries.
Any pointers are highly appreciated!
