At California State University, Chico, we have 14,984 FTE students and a permanent staff of 3 in the Student Learning Center (all 3 of us are on a 10/12 contract with June and July off). Our staff to student ratio is 3 to 4,994. We have 73 student staff including 60 subject tutors, 6 writing tutors, and 7 SI Leaders as well as 7 interns for writing and SI.

Hi Wendy,
At the University of Arizona, a land grant and research 1 institution, we have 39,086 students undergraduate and graduate. We serve both through a variety of services. Counting our GAs, as Elaine did, we have 19 FTE. Therefore, our ratio is 1 to 2057. However, if we acknowledge that we actually serve very few graduate students, and therefore look only at our undergraduate student population, our ratio becomes 1 to 1610.
Good luck!

Ok - so at Clemson we have 11 permanent staff (2 are part-time) plus 3 graduate assistants (20 hr/week each) = 14. Our undergraduate population is 15,836 = staff/student ratio of 1 to 1131.
I tell my staff we are a small, but mighty department! I have submitted a proposal to the administration to add 1 full-time person a year for the next 3 years. Maybe a pipe dream, but have to ask!
Have a great weekend.
