RE: Temporary Housing and Transportation for New, Incoming International Graduate Students
The UF Graduate Student Council and UF Housing have teamed up to help new, incoming graduate students make their transition to the University of Florida with temporary housing and transportation.
If you know any new, incoming international graduate students in need of either, please share this information with them.
UF Housing has secured short-term on-campus housing for incoming international graduate students that is available until August 11, 2012.
(1) From July 1, 2012 to July 31, 2012, students may rent a bed in Hume Hall:
Each room in this hall may host up to two students and each bathroom will be used by up to four students at a time.
(2) From August 1, 2012 to August 11, 2012, students may rent a bed in the Keys Residential Complex:
This complex is apartment-style, featuring shared areas, including a kitchen. Each room will host one student, and each bathroom will be used by up to four students at a time. For $25 per night per bed, student accommondations include one bed, linens, access to a shared bathroom, Internet access and 24-hour assistance from residential area staff. As there are many incoming students and space is limited, rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. Beds are available for a maximum of three nights. Students are encouraged to find long-term accommodation as soon as possible after they arrive in Gainesville.
(3) From August 11, 2012 to August 18, 2012, students may pay for a temporary stay at The Continuum, a UF-affiliated off-campus graduate student housing complex:
Since Graduate School Orientation is on August 13, 2012, we strongly encourage newcomers to arrive before August 11 to get settled in. If you arrive between August 11 and 18 due to unavoidable circumstances, The Continuum may be the answer to your need for a place to stay. For location, price, registration requirements and other details, click on his link:
The Continuum's office hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 12 noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
If you arrive after their office hours, stop at the Keys Residential Complex to pick up the key for your room at The Continuum. Please be aware that you will need to arrange for transportation to get to The Continuum from campus.
(4) Pre-registration for temporary housing is available online here:

Before you arrive, make sure you know where you are going and how to get there.
We highly recommend you fly into Gainesville Regional Airport. Bus 25 will take you directly from the airport to the UF campus terminal commuter lot:
From this commuter lot, you can walk to Hume Hall.
Bus 25 currently runs 7:45 a.m. t0 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The cost is $1.50.
We are currently working with RTS (Regional Transit Service, the local bus line) to add free night and weekend service for new, incoming students. We will post details online once we finalize the details. Please be sure to check the UF Graduate Student Council's website for updates on transportation information, such as shuttles, taxi and other bus options:
