RE: Important: Wrap Up Fall 2012 Admissions Before Noon 8/28/2012
If you have any unfinished Fall 2012 admission cases in need of college and Graduate School approval, please wrap them up well before 12 noon on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, the end of this semester's late registration and drop/add period.
The Graduate School will not admit Fall 2012 applicants past that enrollment deadline because (1) instructors ought to have a final class size to plan for and teach by that point; and (2) students will have missed too much classroom time and course assignments any later than that.
If you are admitting a Fall 2012 applicant to an off-book program with a start date later than the standard academic calendar, please make note of the off-book start date in the "Comments" section of the applicant's E-Referral record and in any petition e-mail you send to your college and Graduate School, so we know it is a special exception.
The following cases need college and Graduate School approval before an applicant is officially admitted:
(1) All applicants with grade point averages below 3.0.
(2) All applicants whose official test scores (GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and the like) are missing on their E-Referral screens.
(3) Non-US and Puerto Rican applicants whose English test scores are below these minimums: 6 for IELTS, 80 for Internet TOEFL, 77 for MELAB, 550 on Paper TOEFL, and 140 (new scoring) or 320 (old scoring) on Verbal GRE.
Finally, please remember: acceptance letters are *not* to go out to any applicant unless the word "Admitted" is showing under "Status" on the applicant's E-Referral screen and Screen 007 in NERDC.
If you have any questions, please e-mail our staffer who handles conditional and special admission cases for Graduate School, Mr. Gregory Orloff, at [log in to unmask]
Thanks for your cooperation!
