Dear BEST'ers
The US Navy uses a lot of mattresses, but they are now recycling them.
The Navy started a program with Nine Lives Mattress Recycling. The Navy
pays $5 a mattress and the recycling company is able to recycle about 90
percent of the material in the mattress. Hilton is also beginning to
recycle their mattresses. Your average mattress contains about 25 pounds
of steel and 9 pounds of cotton. There are over 40 mattress recycling
companies in US and Canada.
