RE:     Today, 6:30 p.m.: UF Graduate Student Council Meeting - Nominations for Officers


Be an officer in Graudate Student Council (GSC)! Gradaute Student Council represents the over 17,000 graduate students at the University of Florida. Tonight at our general meeting we will be taking nominations for the positions listed below. GSC is a great way for graduate students to have an impact on campus and graduate student life. The meeting is tonight at 6:30 in TUR L011. Tonight is only the nomination and next month will be the election.

Descriptions:

President:

a) primary representative of GSC and graduate students on campus
b) Chairs GSC General Body and Executive Board meetings and is an ex-officio member of all committees
c) Forms ad hoc committees and appoints chairs \
d) ‪Meet with the following administration:
   University President: semesterly 
‪   Faculty Senate President: semesterly
‪   SG President: monthly
‪   VP of Student Affairs: semesterly
‪   Vice Director of Student Affairs: monthly
‪   Director of Graduate School: yearly
‪   Dean of International Center: yearly
 
Vice President:

a) Exercises authority of the President in his/her absence.
b) If position GSC officer position becomes vacant, oversees position until filled

Treasurer:

a) Responsible for all financial workings of the organization in accordance with Student Government rules and regulations.
b) Prepares and defends the annual budget 

Secretary:

a) Manages official GSC correspondence including email listservs for Department Representatives and the Executive Board.
b) Sends out notices about General Body meetings and other announcements.

Website Coordinator:

a) Updates and improves the GSC website. 

Grants Committee Chair:

a) Oversees the grants committee & any travel grants process for GSC.   

Graduate Affairs Committee Chair:
 
a) Oversees the Graduate Affairs Committee
b) Advocates on the behalf of Graduate students throughout the university

8) New Student Orientation Committee Chair:

a) Oversees the New Student Orientation Committee

Social Committee Chair:

a) Oversees the Social Committee
b) Organizes socials throughout the year for graduate students

International Committee Chair:
 
a) Oversees the International Committee
b) Addresses concerns and issues that specifically affect international graduate students
