RE: March 25, 3:30 p.m.: Student-Parent Success Seminar with Dr. Linda Behar-Horenstein
PhDMoms at the University of Florida presents UF Distinguished Lecturer, Dr. Linda Behar-Horenstein, for a student-parent success seminar, "Getting Started before you Finish," on Monday, March 25th, 2013 at 3:30pm at Corry Commons in Corry Village at the University of Florida.
Positive Doctoral Student Impact
Doctoral students are at high risk of attrition (~50%), being female and being a parent increases this risk. Dr. Behar-Horenstein an expert in the field of education and student-training will speak to doctoral moms and other graduate student parents with information to help prepare students for the most "dangerous" portion of a doctoral program, the dissertation phase! A dissertation isn't just a dissertation, it's a dissertation, job hunt, travel arrangements, job talks, and all of this becomes even more complex if you are a parent or a spouse. "The biggest concern for the more advanced moms who are focused on writing is what happens when you graduate," said co-Founder and Vice-President, Hannah Siburt. "Finishing a dissertation and finding a job are two major issues occurring at the same time."
