Drive less cars are not only meant to make the roads safer or provide
those who cannot drive a new means of transportation, some are beginning
to think about the possibilities for increasing sustainability.
Streetline, a company whose street level sensors already provide drivers
with real time information, is reducing the time it takes to find a
parking space, but possibilities for this technology include decreasing
congestion for more efficient travel. SARTRE conducted a demonstration
of their team of vehicles. All were equipped with sensors and wireless
technology. The vehicles drove 60mph only 13ft apart from one another,
reaping the benefits of drafting.
