Dear BEST'ers
McDonald's has announced that it will be the first restaurant chain to
serve sustainable seafood in all of its U.S. locations. They will only
sell fish certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, which analyzes
suppliers on fish health, their management system and impact on the
ecosystem. McDonald's is one of the single largest buyers of fish in the
U.S. Soon McDonald's will be launching Fish McBites and along with the
Filet-O-Fish, the packaging will include a new MSC label to showcase
their commitment to sustainability. McDonald's has already been selling
only sustainability certified fish in Europe for 2 years. Target is
hoping to meet this same goal by 2015.
