Hello everyone,
I would like to announce that we are having our first open house
of the year. The Student Compost Cooperative will be hosting an open
house this friday from 4pm to 6pm at the UF Energy Research and
Education Park. The address is 2610 SW 23rd Terrace Gainesville, FL.
Come learn about composting and sustainability in your own community, or
learn how to start composting on your own! This is a great chance to
meet everyone involved with the SCC. You will also be able to pick up
some of the compost that was made in the fall. In addition, we have some
materials that we will no longer be using. We would like to recycle them
and so instead of throwing them away we are giving them away.
(Note: if you would like to bring food waste to compost this Friday,
please avoid bringing meats or oils. Also if you are interested in
taking any of the used materials you will likely need a truck to
transport them.)
The SCC is a student-run cooperative, organized by the BioEnergy and
Sustainable Technology (BEST) Laboratory, and has an open door policy,
meaning food waste can be brought to the composters at any time.

Thanks for your time,
Cary Putnal
