Thanks to Rhonda Rogers-Bardsley with the Hinkley Center for passing
this along to us.
With the advent of smartphones, information has become increasingly
mobile, and for better or worse, many of us with smartphones can't
imagine being without one. Now smartphone apps have been developed to
help curb food waste. This article describes several different apps
connecting different steps in the food chain so that potentially wasted
food can go to those who can use it or need it. For example, one app
alerts non-profit groups, such as food banks and soup kitchens, when
excess food is available from supermarkets. This technology is one more
way innovation is the solution to food waste.
