Since this listserve is through UF, I like to sometimes bring the focus
back to what universities are doing. This article is about the efforts
the University of California at Merced are taking to reduce their food
waste. The university was recently spotlighted by the EPA for these
efforts, which include composting, food donation, and waste reduction.
The article also discusses how UC-Berkeley has reduced 27 tons of food
waste by using the LeanPath program, which I posted about a few weeks
ago. Let's hope to see UF featured someday for the efforts of the
Student Compost Cooperative and other efforts on campus.
