This week's topic is "International Sustainability."
This article details about how different Canadian university students
have encouraged social and cultural change toward sustainability. McGill
University hosts a farmer's market and a CSA program in order to feed
it's campus and downtown residents fresh, local, student-grown food.
Another program, McGill Feeding McGill, coordinates with its dining
services and Plant Science Department to serve food that is grown at the
campus's horticultural center. The students are also passionate about
social change regarding sustainability. Among other initiatives, the
Campus Life Sciences Complex hosted a Shut Your Sash program,
encouraging students in labs to shut their fume hoods when not in use.
This initiative in one campus building saved over $75,000.
I hope we at the University of Florida can learn from these
