Hello Best Community,
In line with the concept of International Sustainability for this week,
I wanted to share with you an organization called "Maya Pedal", a
Guatemalan group that adapts old bicycles into pedal powered machines.
They make human powered machines that can grind corn, pump water, mill
flour, grind coffee; all important tasks for poor farming communities.
Machines like these give a sustainable solution to tasks that are often
done by hand in many poor villages. These machines do not pollute and do
not require fossil fuel inputs which means they are affordable to
operate. We should all consider devices in our lives that we take for
granted and see how the same tasks are done in other places by other
people and how they are done more sustainably.
