SOCnetters,
We are now accepting applications for a 'Mathematics Research Community'
on Network Science that will take place 24-30 June 2014 in the Snowbird
Ski Resort in Utah.
People can apply from the following website:
http://www.ams.org/programs/research-communities/mrc-14
The due date for applications is 1 March 2014. The application procedures
are described on the website.
This program is meant for graduate students and early postdocs; it is a
sort of network-science bootcamp --- with Aaron Clauset, David Kempe, Dan
Larremore, and me as the camp counselors.
Although the sponsoring organization is the American Mathematical Society,
the other organizers and I seek a broad variety of quantitatively-minded
people who are interested in network science. The optimal situation for
the program is to have participants from a broad cross section of
backgrounds both within and outside of mathematics, so I very much hope
to see some applications from the SOCnet community.
There are more details on the website, and I am also happy for people to
send me questions if any further information is desired. (Note that the
specific topics will depend on the interests of the participants, so that
is not one that I can answer now.)
