HONORS OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.	ANNOUNCEMENT: Honors Daily Hiatus (NEW POSTING):
The Honors Daily will be on hiatus starting Thursday, February 27. It will return on Monday, March 10 when students return from Spring Break.

2.	ANNOUNCEMENT: Pick up Your H-Box:
The H-Box is designed as a "scavenger hunt" style activity for Honors students - with missions delivered through a deck of cards. This is an opportunity for Honors students to gain an enriched experience of University Academics, the Gainesville Community, and the Honors Program at the University of Florida.

Students must select a minimum of 25 activities from the cards provided, at least 5 from each area (academics, community, honors). You must provide "proof of presence" in the form of receipt, photograph, or other printed record of attendance, and attach it to the card. You can view the various activities here: http://www.pinterest.com/ufhonors/h-box/

Students who complete their H-Box will receive a gold star pin, as well as 1 enrichment point towards Honors completion requirements. And of course, you get to keep your H-Box as a personal memory of your experience at UF. There is no deadline to complete your activities.

H-Boxes are now available for pick-up in 343 Infirmary. One per honors student, please.

3.	ADVISING ANNOUNCEMENT: Taking Courses Elsewhere this Summer:
Are you thinking about taking a course elsewhere this summer? You must get the approval of your college advising office (honors advisors cannot do this) prior to doing so. For more information, see http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/currents/transients.html

Certain colleges may have additional requirements or guidelines for taking courses elsewhere. For example, see the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences http://www.advising.ufl.edu/information/trans.html and the College of Business http://warrington.ufl.edu/undergraduate/advising/transient.asp. Please meet with your college directly if you have questions.

Also note that if you are planning to take a course elsewhere this summer in hopes of fulfilling the 9 hour summer requirement, courses must be taken at one of the State University System institutions. Community colleges (including those converted to state colleges) and private colleges do not count. For more information see https://catalog.ufl.edu/ugrad/current/regulations/info/graduation.aspx#summer

4.	ADVISING ANNOUNCEMENT: Local Contact Hold:
Due to the lack of accurate local contact information for many UF students, a hold is being placed on those students who lack a local address on file with the university. This hold will be placed on the student's record again every three months from the date it was cleared. Also, the Emergency Contact hold will now be placed every three months from the date it was cleared rather than four months.

It is imperative that you add, update, or verify your local mailing address to assure that university representatives can contact you regarding your confidential academic record and other important university business. For most students this would be your Gainesville or surrounding area's mailing address. If you do not have a local address, enter the address at which you wish to receive your mail. Please note that you won't be able to register unless you update or confirm your local mailing address.

To add, update or verify your local address:
- Go to ISIS and Click on "Update My Local Address."
- Enter your Gatorlink Username and Password.
- Fill in the Local Home Data using only address line 3, country, city, state and zip.
- Click the "Submit" bar at the bottom of the page and your address will update immediately.

5.	ADVISING ANNOUNCEMENT: Save the Date - Early Honors Registration:
Early registration for current first-year students in the Honors Program will take place from 9:00am-5:00pm on March 20 and 21 via ISIS. Early registration this semester is only open to honors students who entered UF in Summer B or Fall 2013.

You will be able to register for up to 10 credits of any classes, not just honors courses. Note, if you are registering for both summer and fall courses, you will get up to 10 credits for each term. As always, the early registration time will NOT appear on ISIS - you are responsible for remembering it is taking place.

You will not be able to register early if:
- You entered UF prior to Summer / Fall 2013
- Your GPA is below a 3.0
- You have a HOLD on your record
- You do not have the prerequisites for the course you are trying to add
- The course you are trying to add is full or departmentally controlled

The Summer / Fall schedule of courses will be released on February 28 at http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/. Honors course descriptions will be posted on the Honors website after spring break.
