HONORS OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.	ANNOUNCEMENT: Honors Completion Portfolios Deadline for Seniors:
Students who are graduating this semester and plan to submit their portfolio to earn the Honors medallion must do so by Friday, April 18 at 5:00pm in 343 Infirmary. Portfolios include the cover sheet found online, an unofficial transcript, and all documentation needed to show how you have earned your 8 academic points and 6 enrichment points. HONORS ORGANIZATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

2.	LEADERSHIP: Honors Dance Marathon Team Delegate Application Available:
The Honors DM has just finished an amazing year of making miracles happen by raising over $6,000 FTK! Our current Delegate is moving up in the DM world and needs someone to take over the team. 3.	LEADERSHIP: H1G Mentor Recruitment:
The Honors First Generation mentoring program is currently recruiting mentors for next year's class of mentees. Applicants should be both first-generation college students and members of the Honors Program. The application should be turned into the Honors Office's front desk by this Friday at 4:30pm. 4.	EVENT: Honors Without Borders Ultimate Tournament:
A co-ed 7v7 charity ultimate tournament for players of all skill-levels, the Honors Without Borders Ultimate Tournament will take place Saturday, April 19 at Hume Field beginning at 3:15pm. The $10 per UF student and $15 per non-UF student collections will go directly to the Cancer Research Institute (http://www.cancerresearch.org). Winners should expect to receive tournament shirts! LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

5.	VOLUNTEER: Volunteers Needed for Chemathon:
We are looking for volunteers for Chemathon on Friday, April 25. Chemathon is a unique chemistry competition for local high schoolers. High schoolers will take a chemistry test, followed by lab tours, a quiz bowl, and a science show. It is by no means as intense as Science Bowl, but is still a fun opportunity. If you would like to volunteer for part of the event, or the whole thing, just sign up on this Google doc: http://bit.ly/1ipfg3b 

Volunteers will receive instructions when they arrive at the competition. We need 60+ volunteers. Volunteers will get donuts for breakfast if you're signed up for the morning shift. Both shifts will be able to get delicious sandwiches for lunch.

6.	VOLUNTEER: Volunteers Needed for Baseline Concussion Testing Event:
Interested in gaining patient contact experience, all while learning how to administer an internationally-recognized test dealing with concussions, a growing field of interest in public health and medicine? Athlete Brain is in need of a sizeable number of volunteers to administer SCAT3 baseline concussion tests during the Pre-Participation Exam event, hosted by the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute, on Saturday, April 26. You will go need through a brief training and check-out process prior to the event. If interested, or have further questions, please contact Olivia Glotfelty at [log in to unmask]

7.	LEADERSHIP: Advertising Chair Needed for Amnesty International:
Do you love human rights? Would you like to be involved in leading the UF chapter of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning grassroots activist NGO, Amnesty International (AI)? The UFAI board is currently seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic students to join them in taking UFAI to another level of campus awareness next semester. In particular, we are looking for an advertising chair whose work will ultimately increase campus outreach through different forms of social media, flyers, etc. Experience with Photoshop and Adobe are a plus but not required -- only passion and love for human rights!

8.	LEADERSHIP: Engineering Leadership Circle Applications:
Engineering Leadership Circle (ELC) is now accepting applications for Spring 2014 inductions. ELC is an honorary society whose purpose is to distinguish those students and alumni in engineering who have shown exceptional leadership ability or potential, exemplary character, and endeavor to foster the spirit of unity among leaders and pride in the engineering profession. In addition, ELC seeks to recognize and unify young leaders and to promote the general welfare of the societies in the College of Engineering.

9.	LEADERSHIP: Engineering Day Board Positions:
E-Day is a workshop/networking event in the fall held the day before the technical day of Career Showcase where engineers can mingle in a smaller setting with the very same recruiters that will be collecting résumés in the O-Dome. Last year's event had nearly 300 students in attendance, and we need your help to make this event even better this year!

STUDENT ORGANIZATION ANNOUNCEMENTS AND EVENTS 

10.	STUDENT ORG MEETINGS: Thursday, April 17 (TODAY):
- Amnesty International at 6:00pm in MCCA 2196. Focus: What is going on in Ukraine? Why is Russia invading its territory? When did these events begin? How can we voice our opposition? We will be answering these questions and more concerning the grave human rights abuses occurring in Ukraine.

- Gators for UNICEF at 6:30pm in Anderson 101. Focus: Discussing our year in review and watching a presentation by our Political Advocacy and Education chairs. Contact: [log in to unmask] 

11.	EVENT: Darius Goes West Documentary Screening and Speaker (TODAY):
Join the Disability Affairs Cabinet and UF Physical Therapy Department on Thursday, April 17 at 7:00pm in the HPNP Auditorium to watch the award-winning documentary Darius Goes West, followed by a Q&A and meet and greet with Darius himself! 12.	EVENT: Equal Access Clinic 5K:
It's time for the 17th Annual Equal Access Clinic 5K. Help support the Equal Access Clinic in its largest event of the year, and have tons of fun doing so! Our clinics help provide healthcare to Gainesville's medically underserved or anyone without health insurance. Come out and run the official UF SW Rec 5K route and get your most accurate time with electronic chip tracking. Race T-shirt size preferences are guaranteed to the first 200 runners, and registration for the event will earn you both an event and inter-committee point for AMSA.

The race takes place on Saturday, April 19 at 8:30am starting at the SW Rec parking lot across from the Harn Museum. Online registration can be found at: http://equalaccess5k.itsyourrace.com/

13.	EVENT: Celebrate Earth Day at the Florida Museum:
Explore the wonders of life on Earth with hands-on activities and a huge plant sale at the Florida Museum! On Saturday, April 19 from 10:00am to 3:00pm, participate in Earth Day activities in the adjacent UF Natural Area Teaching Laboratory and see diverse specimens from the museum's vast collections.

The museum will also host a large plant sale with more than 120 species of difficult-to-find and butterfly-friendly plants Friday through Sunday (April 1921) from 10:00am to 5:00pm where attendees can learn how to attract butterflies to their homes and which plants are proven winners. Accent, host, native and nectar plants are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the museum's "Butterfly Rainforest" exhibit and other museum events like ButterflyFest. 14.	EVENT: University Math Society Integration Bee:
This Saturday, April 19 at 12:00pm at NPB1001, the University Math Society will be hosting its 3rd annual Integration Bee. Students face off head-to-head solving complex integration problems for a chance to win prizes totaling $750 in scholarship money. 15.	EVENT: "Off-University" Mini-Series:
At 7:00pm on Saturday, April 19 in the Reitz Union Auditorium, ChomPics Productions will premiere all 5 episodes of our completely original, student-produced mini-series "Off-University" - a show that chronicles the lives of four roommates and their attempts to navigate the social climate of college.
