All,

I want to announce an exciting position at the International Center for Supplemental Instruction, located on the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). We currently have an opening for a Co-Coordinator of our campus SI program. This individual would also become a Certified SI Trainer, traveling the country, as we do, conducting SI trainings at other institutions, as well as hosting these trainings here in Kansas City. This person would also be intricately involved in the planning and execution of our bi-annual International Conference on SI, as well as a variety of other responsibilities. Job Description


BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

    To plan, coordinate, and direct all administrative and operational activities that pertain to the campus Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program. This position will also serve as a Certified Supplemental Instruction Trainer and will be required to travel up to 30%. As well, the position will assist with the department's social media and web presence.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

    Hire, train and supervise student staff members (SI Leaders) for the campus SI Program
    Plan and direct weekly SI Leader meetings
    Meet regularly with SI Leaders to assist in planning SI sessions
    Supervise and observe SI sessions on a regular basis
    Serve as liaison with faculty members who participate in or are interested in the campus SI Program
    Mentor SI Leaders to provide peer group and individual SI sessions
    Assist with SI Program marketing and promotion endeavors
    Identify and secure campus space, resources, and other necessary materials to ensure a successful SI Program
    Collect and analyze data in an effort to compile reports and proposals for the campus SI Program
    Co-conduct local SI Training Workshops, as well as travel to conduct trainings at other colleges and universities
    Assist in the planning and implementation of the bi-annual International Conference on Supplemental Instruction
    Perform related duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Direction is received from the Associate Director of Academic Support and Mentoring

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

    Functional supervision is exercised over student staff members assigned to Academic Support and Mentoring

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    A bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. At least
    three years of experience in a related program or field is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Master's degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs
    Working knowledge of student development theory and general understanding of student success and access programming
    Experience working in higher education
    Experience conducting training workshops or making presentations
    Experience managing social media and web design implementation
    Experience developing and managing academic support programs (i.e. Supplemental Instruction, Tutoring...etc.)
    Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours including travel both regionally and nationally is required
    Strong public speaking skills as well as solid writing and organizational skills


Salary:  $45,600

Shift:  Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
