WATERLOO — The City Hall parking garage may not be the best place to store
official City of Waterloo records.

"It's in a secured space in the garage," said Julie Scott, deputy city
clerk. "It's in a locked space as well so it's not sitting at the end of a
parking stall or anything like that.

"It's still not an ideal location to be storing records."

The parking garage records are mostly reference materials and Scott said
the situation sounds worse than it is.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
