We are a small college of nursing and health sciences, newly accredited and loosely affiliated with a hospital. We provide largely associate degrees in healthcare fields, plus a BSN completion program. We hire tutors who are affiliated with the hospital, such as pharmacists, nurses or doctors. Our adjunct faculty members also occasionally work as tutors. We tutor subjects such as Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, all nursing classes - med/surg, OB/Peds, Foundations, Pharmacology, etc. We also belong to an online eTutoring consortium in Ohio and our students use it mainly for writing (asynch and synch). The students can log in with their own computers.
We are also planning to expand our programs, and are working on developing a peer tutoring program in anticipation of the expansion. We plan to join ATP & develop a Master Tutor program for both our current tutors (very modified) and our future peer tutors. I hope this is useful information!
Thanks,
Silvia

Subject: Tutoring for Nursing Students
We are exploring the idea of offering tutoring support for nursing students. If any of you offer nursing tutoring at your centers, we would be very interested in hearing:
1. what types of topics are tutored (e.g., quantitative, biological science, study skills, reading comprehension, etc.) 2. what qualifications are held by the tutors (strictly nursing students?) 3. are any tutorials held remotely (synch or asynch)? If so, what technology is used?
Thank you in advance for your input!
Best regards,
Chris
