Rider University's Student Success Center is excited to share that we are
searching for an Assistant Director of Tutoring and Supplemental
Instruction. Please see below for more information:
*Assistant Director, Student Success Center*
Rider University seeks an Assistant Director for the Student Success Center
who will manage: the Supplemental Instruction program; content tutoring
specializing in math/science courses; the online tutoring support and data
management system; and assist the Director in the organization and
management additional Center programs and services. Individual will also
design, implement, coordinate, and sustain high quality peer tutoring and
SI programs which include: promoting SI and content tutoring to students
and instructors; recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating
SI leaders and peer content tutors. Analyzing and reporting on data
collected about tutoring and SI in order to identify enhancements and
ensure that the programs operate according to best practice, current
research, and University policies is also required.
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Science or
Mathematics Education, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field and at
least three years’ experience in tutoring or supplemental instruction in a
higher education setting. Additional skills include: a working knowledge
of student development theory, peer and collaborative learning, and related
best practices; database and spreadsheet management and report writing;
excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal
skills; and creativity and problem-solving ability. This position requires
the ability to: collaborate effectively with colleagues, faculty, staff,
and students; to function both autonomously and in partnership with the
Director, Center colleagues and faculty; to work in a fast-paced
environment; and to manage multiple projects in a timely manner. In order
to meet student needs, the Assistant Director will be required to work at
least one evening per week during the fall and spring semesters.
