Computational social scientist postdoc opportunity - Army Research Laboratory MD
The United States Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking applications for one postdoctoral position in the areas of social computing and computational approaches to the social sciences. ARL is a basic and applied science and technology laboratory. This position is with Social Information Exploitation team in the Computational Information Sciences Directorate. The team conducts basic and applied research within a broad range of topic areas including: online behavior and communities, social simulation and modeling, social network analysis, social media analysis, data mining, and human information interaction (humans interacting with information in militarily relevant environments).
The candidate must have completed a doctorate degree before hire in one of the following disciplines: computational sociology, social psychology, social systems science, or a related discipline. Multidisciplinary research experience, strong knowledge and skills in research design and data analysis (qualitative and quantitative), and computer programming skills are required.
The postdoctoral position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, which sits on the Chesapeake Bay, and is about 40 miles from Baltimore and 70 miles from Washington, D.C. This position is a renewable one year appointment through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education http://www.orau.org/maryland/ with an approximate salary of $80,000/year without benefits. Relocation is not provided. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
