If you are interested, Fabio Fonti and I have recently published a paper on SMJ employing
network analysis on NBA data. Rather than using passing data, we performed a core-
periphery analysis on team networks of task-based interactions, which were built by
looking at how much time each players (pairwise) spent time on the court together. You

Since the start of this project, I have collected, cleaned and created a database on the
NBA. In particular, I have - ready to be analyzed - all the play-by-play dyadic interactions
(including assists) for all the games since 2000. It's a database of 8 million plays. I'd be
happy to share this data (structured and cleaned) with anyone interested in working on it.
