Registration is now open for the August Carpentries workshops. This time we are delaying sending an email to the UFII mailing list by a day to give other lists and communities and opportunity to hear about the workshops. Please advertise them to your labs, peers, and mailing lists today!

UFII has kindly made a single page describing all the events:

https://informatics.institute.ufl.edu/event/carpentries-workshops-on-r-and-python/

The registration links are active only on the individual workshop pages at this time though so people will need to click through to register.

Some suggested text for announcements:

The UF Carpentries Club, Informatics Institute, and the Marston Science Library are combining to put on three workshops during the week of August 14-18, 2017. Come and get your fall semester off to a great start by learning Python, R, software development, and data management tools! You can read about the events and click-through to the workshop pages to register at:

https://informatics.institute.ufl.edu/event/carpentries-workshops-on-r-and-python/

These workshops fill up fast so if you're interested, register today!

* Software Carpentry with PYTHON – Monday and Tuesday, August 14-15, 2017, 9:00AM-4:30PM, E251 CSE, UF Informatics Institute classroom

This two day Software Carpentry workshop will help the UF community get started learning Python and common software development tools such as the Unix shell, SQL, and Git. Need to learn some programming for a class? Want to collaborate effectively with your peers? This is the workshop for you.

* Data Carpentry with R – Monday and Tuesday, August 14-15, 2017, 9:00AM-4:30PM, L136 Marston Science Library

This two day Data Carpentry workshop will help the UF community get started learning R and common data management tools such as the spreadsheets, OpenRefine, and SQL. Want to automate some research analyses? Have data you’re scared to work with in Excel? Want to collaborate effectively with your peers? We can get you started.

* DAY OF R – Friday, August 18, 2017, 9:00AM-4:30PM, L308 Marston Science Library

Based on the Software Carpentry R materials, this one day workshop will focus only on the basics of programming in R. Taking a STATS class this fall? Need to write some code to finish your dissertation or senior project? Already know good development and data management practices? This workshop fits your needs.
