Subject: [trainers] Mentoring Applications NOW Open!
To: trainers <[log in to unmask]>
We want you to know about our mentoring program so that you can share
this opportunity with your trainees. Our program aims to develop
instructors’ confidence and skill levels so that they feel empowered
to start organizing and teaching workshops, to suggest improvements to
lessons (or help maintain them), and to begin to get local communities
off the ground. Our program matches new instructors with experienced
community members willing to answer any questions they might have
about the Carpentries. These might relate to teaching, lesson
maintenance, organizing workshops, community building - or all of the
above! Where possible, we match people in their region (and hopefully
close by) to help strengthen their local Carpentries community.
Mentors will hold regular meetings with their mentoring group (groups
are usually small - around 4-5 people) to help prepare them to teach
or to maintain lessons, start workshops or build communities. What
will be covered will be determined by the mentoring group they sign up
We strongly encourage you to promote this opportunity to instructor
trainees when you teach. Please ask new instructors to sign up via
this Google form . Spaces in this program are limited, so please
have your trainees sign up as soon as they can. The deadline for
applications is August 31st.
If you are interested in leading a mentoring group, please complete
the form below .
All the details of the program are in the *Mentoring Groups* section
of the Carpentries handbook . We look forward to having you
involved in the program!
