Maggi: You might want to check into the "Legends of the World"
series, by Troll Associates. They have a series of multicultural
paperbacks, one of which is The Golden Slipper, a Vietnamese Legend.
(picturebook, 32 pages) They may have others, but you may have more
luck just going with Asian stories. Call 201-529-4000, Bridgewater
Books. ISBN: 0-8167-3406-2. If you'd like, I could also send you
copies of lists of books - I teach children's literature, and have
some great resources. Let me know if you'd like more. Have you
checked with Donna Norton, at Texas A&M? She's one of the best in
the field, and I prefer her textbook, Through the Eyes of a Child,
over any others I've seen.
Good luck!
