Greetings...
Recently through the AECT listserv, there was reference to Miller, George
A., The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two: Some Limits on our Capacity
for Processing Information, (1956) Harvard University, first published in
Psychological Review, 63, 81-97. as seen in
http://www.yorku.ca/dept/psych/classics/Miller/ Classics in the History of
Psychology An internet resource developed by Christopher D. Green
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> York University, Toronto, Ontario.
Yes, friends, I read it all. Later that night, er-morning- I woke about 3
a.m. and created a guide on "Emergency Test Preparation" based upon this
research. I incorporated this guide into my Study Guides and Strategies,
right below "Cramming". I figured structured cramming better than
unstructured, and who knows--maybe there is some rationale to this rule of 7
plus or minus two.
Could I beg the indulgence of this group to review my work, my thoughts, and
this page? it is at http://www.iss.stthomas.edu/studyguides/tstprpcrm.htm
I have a thick skin, so all comments welcome! I don't know if a public
discussion of this is in order--but either direct commentary to me, or via
this listserv, works...
many thanks
