>Research Associate

>Basic Function
>
>Provides assistance to the director on research and other professional
>projects
>
>Scope of Responsibilities
>
>.  Coordinates research efforts.  Assists in the preparation of research
>proposals and the planning of research efforts.  Supervises research
>projects that involve a wide range of research methodologies.  Responsible
>for organizing data collection, analysis, and reporting.  Develops reports
>for a variety of audiences.
>.  Plans project meetings, tracks expenses, and communicates with all
>project partners in an efficient and timely manner. Organizes the workflow,
>plans meetings, maintains files, and tracks expenses.
>.  Represents the Director in his/her absence at research and other
>professional project meetings.  Assists the Director of Research and Policy
>and works across divisions to promote the association's mission.
>.  Coordinates other professional projects such as revising the Standards
>for Reading Professionals.   Responds to inquiries that require content
>knowledge of reading development and instruction.
>.  Prepares for and attends the annual convention.

> Qualifications
>
>Background in reading development and reading instruction. Familiarity with
>conducting, reporting, and publishing educational research; ability to
>gather and synthesize information, ability to communicate with varied
>audiences, ability to work across boundaries as a team member, good personal
>and public relations skills, ability to grasp the large picture and attend
>to details necessary for actualizing. Advanced degree in reading education a
>plus.

>Internal Relationships
>
>Reports directly to the Director of Research and Policy. Works with division
>staff. Maintains close contact across divisions.
>
>External Relationships
>
>Has frequent contact with various Association staff and committees and with
>other education associations.

>Criteria for Performance Evaluation

>Effectiveness, timeliness, and quality of the professional services provided
>in the context of the major responsibilities listed.
