I would like to send out this second message by itself with an attachment about the the First Annual College Reading and Learning Association NJ/PA Conference at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ on April 7, 2000. As mentioned earlier Dr. Vincent Tinto, the national retention expert from Syracuse University and author of Leaving College: Rethinking the Causes and Cures of Student Attritition, will be the keynote speaker. His talk is being funded by CRLA, Kean University, and Rider University. We have selected 17 presentations for the concurrent sessions that range from tutor certification to special programs and curricula for at risk and other student populations. Other topics include learning and tutoring communities, outreach programs that include learning styles and research on the internet, and active learning strategies. Presenters are from a variety of institutions that include state and private four-year institutions and community colleges from NJ, PA, DE, and MD. When accessing this attachment which is the program flyer for Partners in Learning: Outreach and Student Involvement, put your cursor on View and then on page layout (75%). This should make this Word attachment more readable. Hope to see you at the conference on April 7th! Jackie Simon CRLA NJ/PA President Rider University
