                  PEER TUTORING/LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION SUPPORT MANAGER
                          NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES


Lead, manage, develop, and promote a peer tutoring program in
coordination with other campus tutoring programs, under the direction of
Head, Media Center.  Recruit and hire qualified tutors.  Assess student
needs for tutorial assistance. Design and implement peer tutoring
assessment surveys.  Coordinate services and workshops in collaboration
with counseling and other academic support units.  Coordinate
instructional use of Language Lab and multimedia workstations with
academic departments and other academic support services.  Prepare
analyses and reports.  Demonstrate commitment to diversity within the
workplace and create an environment sensitive to a diverse user
community.  Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a casual assistant.
Participate in departmental planning and in continuous improvement of
services and operations.

Qualifications: M.Ed. required; specialization in higher education
preferred.  Minimum two years related experience, preferably in an
academic or library facility and including effective supervision.
Experience using microcomputers and media technology as part of
instruction essential.  Teaching and/or tutoring experience and
knowledge of tutoring practices and assessment.  Knowledge of at least
one modern language and experience working with bilingual students
desirable.  Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal,
organizational, and supervisory, analytical, quantitative, and planning
skills.  Must demonstrate initiative and be service-oriented,
self-motivated, and attentive to detail.  Ability to work effectively
with a diverse staff and user community.  Proficient with various word
processing, database, spreadsheet, and other software applications.
Knowledge of library and media management systems and networks
desirable.  Able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
