Last but not least... our final report.

>Florida Keys Raptor Migration Project Count Update
>
>The Fall 2000 Florida Keys Hawkwatch has come to a
>close, today (the 13th of November); ending our second
>season of counting at Curry Hammock State Park, in
>Marathon, Florida. We had a great season, almost
>40,000 birds (although that includes 20,000
>back-and-forth Turkey Vultures!). 2,043 Peregrine
>Falcons was certainly a highlight, as was our first
>Black Vulture. 295 Swainson’s Hawk sighting for this
>side of the Mississippi ain’t bad either – although we
>did finish the season –8 birds! Not to mention such
>non-raptor goodies as Greater Flamingo, Dickcissal,
>and Scissor-tailed Flycatchers; plus the frequent
>Anhingas, Spoonbills, and Frigatebirds, which for a
>Joisey birder like myself are quite nice.
>
>Thanks to all those who helped out our official
>counters this year: Derek Lovitch and Jose Antonio
>Martinez Climent, then Jeff Mauer, and last but not
>least, Gerard Phillips.
>
>Here now are the totals for the last ˝ week of the
>count, and the season totals since September 15.
>
>WEEK NINE TOTALS:
>November 11 – November 14, 2000.
