In the higher education arena, one will face more academic grief from
obtaining a degree from a school perceived as less than academic than if
one does not have the actual terminal degree. Higher education is filled
with the I'm better than you attitudes based on degree granting institution
or type of degree--Ph.D. versus Ed.D. versus etc.

The key may be to find a traditional school that can meet you half way.
Degree programs in adult education often understand that folks bring with
them valued experiences.

Universities are institutions run by amateurs to train professionals.

In examinations, the man who succeeds is not the man who can write well
about something that he knows, but the man who can write brilliantly about
something of which he knows nothing. D.B. Jackson----the Royal Air Force
