This morning, Steve Collins found a Western Kingbird in northwestern
Pinellas County.
Heading south on Bailey's Bluff Road (595), the bird was seen on a barbed
wire fence, approximately 1 mile south of Anclote River Park, on Anclote Road
(not the new Anclote Blvd.). Anclote Road makes a 90 degree turn to the South
for a 1/2 mile stretch, before turning another 90 degrees to the East. Along
this 1/2 mile stretch of road, a barbed wire fence encloses a vacant piece of
property to the West. As Steve watched from his car, from about 30 feet
away, the
Kingbird perched on the fence, flew repeatedly into the open field to catch
bugs, and returned to the same spot. The bird was still there when he left at
8:30 AM. DeLorme Atlas, page 82, C3
