I received the following info from Ken Meyer regarding the Swallow-tailed
Kite that was tagged with a satellite transmitter this past summer at
Orlando Wetlands Park. Please do not reproduce this info on any other lists
without Ken's permission.

Two of the 5 kites w/ satellite transmitters are no longer transmitting and
most likely
have died (although the radios could have fallen off, in which case they
might not get enough sunlight to recharge and transmit). But OWP is
trucking along. She is in northern Peru, near the city of Iquitos. This is
right on the route used by virtually all the other tagged kites. She's
moving slowly. The other two birds are already in Brazil, but OWP will be
there soon. Once in Brazil, they have a ways to go. In the past, birds did
not reach their ultimate wintering destinations until mid-October to
mid-November.
