Please join us for a visit to the Washington State Puget Sound Regional
Archives in Bellevue that will include a presentation by Jerry Handfield,
Washington State Archivist, on "Our Digital Future - A Blank Slate".  Mr.
Handfield will discuss the very important role of Records Information
Managers in the information revolution, including privacy, authenticity, and
digital archives.

Jerry Handfield has been the Washington State Archivist since October 29,
2001.  Jerry came to Washington from Indiana where he was the Indiana State
Archivist and Director of the Commission on Public Records since 1989.
Prior to that he was a Field Agent and Oral Historian for the Indiana
Historical Society, Field Representative and Oral Historian for the Indiana
State Library and an instructor at Indiana University-Purdue University at
Indianapolis.  In addition, he has given numerous presentations on history,
records management and the role of the state archives.  Jerry has a Ph.D. in
History, a MA in American History and a BA in History and International
Relations.  Jerry's elementary school experience included one-room schools
in Franklin Connecticut. In his free time, Jerry plays softball (his team
won the National Championship 55 and over in 1999 and 2001) and he will be
coaching the Secretary of State's softball team.
