The events of September 11 helped unite both public and private organizations in their work to share and protect vital information. ARMA International's 2002 Super Mid Year Program will explore this continuing business trend in "Building National Strength: Government and Industry Cooperation in Information Management," June 5-7, in the Washington, D.C. area at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City.

This event will feature more than 20 educational sessions on such important topics as business continuity planning and records security, with speakers from several U.S. federal agencies, including the National Archives and Records Administration, the Department of Energy, the Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The sessions will provide a framework in which information management professionals in the public and private sector work together to improve efficiencies and cooperate in providing, creating, distributing, storing, and accessing data and records. Session topics will include:

> Vital records and business continuity planning
> Managing electronic records
> Shredding lessons learned from the Enron/Arthur Andersen case
> Pros and cons of outsourcing a records management program
> Successful employee training programs
> Using computers and artificial intelligence to determine document retention
> Records security
> E-government

One highlight of this year's ISG event will be an optional tour of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (www.ushmm.org) on June 5. The guided tour will offer a rare, behind-the-scenes view of the workings, archiving, and preservation of historically significant items in the museum's collection. PLEASE NOTE: Space for this tour is extremely limited. You must reserve your slot by contacting Wanda Wilson, [log in to unmask], (888)298-6902, before the event.
