Diane,

I work outside on the Cape Canaveral AFS and have seen numerous common
nighthawks in the areas west of the primary dunes. They nest on the ground in
the open sandy areas and any area that has a bit of gravel. their eggs, I
presume are camouflaged for this environment. Really neat listening to them
call while flying around feeding.
