September 5-11, 2002

Departing migrants were detected on all but one night during this
week. The exception was last night, the 11th, when most of the departure
areas were covered with rain. I would call the departures light on the 5th
and 6th, and moderate on the other nights. The pattern on the 7th is
interesting, as the birds are drifted to the west by rather strong winds
from the east. This can be contrasted with the pattern on the following
night when the birds move in a southerly direction.
