More than one photo of the Slaty-backed Gull is being permitted because of
the rarity of this bird.

Gerard Phillips and Mark Hedden discovered the bird as you all know and the
first photos were taken by Gerard Phillips at Higgs Beach, Key West, on
September 21, 2002.  Attached is a copy of the number 1 photo (according to
Gerard's numbering system anyway).

This photo, like all others posted on this list or the website shown on the
second line of the bottom banner, are copyrighted by the photographer.

The Handbook of the Birds of the World shows the distribution of this bird
to be from NE Siberia to Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan to Vladivostock, with
summer dispersion to Taiwan.  Our bird is a long way from home.
