While searching for godwit (no as of 1145 Fri. 18) at Springhill Road Sewage Treatment Plant in Tallahassee, I wandered into short grass/weedy meadow/field to east of large easternmost pond and flushed a Lapland longspur. The bird vocalized upon flight, flew to perimeter of fields, circled high and back and landed 150 feet from takeoff point. It did this three times, once over buildings associated with facility-must really enjoy this field- and then landed on thin strip of grass between plastic and paved area on side of pond. It finally became visible and gave good scope looks. Only one bird was present.
