Here at Housatonic Community College, our faculty can do some of their 20% tutoring. What is 20%? A faculty person is required to work 20% more than their class and office hours this equates to 9 additional hours a week. This is the time that the faculty would join committees, be an advisor for a club, work in the advising center, tutor or a combination of all of these. We're in the very initial stages of trying to get this institutionalized for the benefit of the students as well as the tutors. I would appreciate your opinions on this method as well as suggestions of how to go about institutionalization.
