Friendster is basically a crossbreed of sixdegrees and match.com. You sign up, invite your friends to sign up and then get to meet people that are connected to you. In short, folks build their own social networks explicitly and a variety of interesting social behaviors emerge. Many people that i've spoken to about it are primarily fascinated by the networks portion (as opposed to the dating portion), curious to know how they are linked to various people.
