At Lake Land College, our Tutoring Center uses two groups of tutors: student tutors and degree tutors. Degree tutors are permanent part-time employees, and typically have at least a bachelor's degree. Several degree tutors have Master's degrees and also work as adjunct instructors. Some of our tutors have been with us for many years. We probably use a higher percentage of degree tutors than many schools. Most of our English, math, and science tutors are degree tutors. We usually have to use student tutors for our computer courses; degreed technology professionals don't need to settle for what we can pay, even in today's economy.
